Why do we use Keycloak at the Flying Circus?

As a cloud & platform operator, Keycloak offers us a versatile, powerful and, above all, secure solution. By integrating various authentication methods such as OIDC and SAML, we can significantly increase the security and user-friendliness of our services.

What are the benefits of Keycloak for the Flying Circus?

For us at Flying Circus, the use of Keycloak means that we can react flexibly to the needs of our customers as well as our developers. The software helps us to efficiently manage access to resources and ensure a seamless user experience. Users can access all services via a single, centralised login, which not only increases convenience but also improves security.

Since 22 August 2024, our already registered customers will benefit from Keycloak without noticing, except for the redesigned registration and login process landscape in my.flyingcircus.io. In future, we will switch the login to other systems to Keycloak.

Another plus point: as open source software, Keycloak allows us to check and adapt the source code at any time. This allows us to ensure that potential vulnerabilities are quickly rectified, which increases the protection of user data.

How Keycloak works at Flying Circus

At Flying Circus, we use Keycloak as a central identity management system. Keycloak's identity provider (IdP) manages the identities of our users and enables single sign-on (SSO) between different applications. The access tokens issued by Keycloak ensure that only authorised users can access protected resources.
